Lake Ronkonkoma is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is situated in the town of Brookhaven, on Long Island's north shore. The area of the hamlet is approximately 12.3 square miles, of which 2.2 square miles is water. The most notable feature of Lake Ronkonkoma is the freshwater lake after which the hamlet is named. The lake is the largest body of freshwater on Long Island and has a surface area of 243 acres. It is a popular spot for fishing and boating, as well as other outdoor recreational activities. The hamlet also has a rich history, dating back to the early 18th century, and is home to several historic landmarks and buildings.
